Usrah 1 || QURAN, A GUIDANCE FOR HUMANITY

The month of Ramadan is that in which the Quran was revealed, as guidance to mankind and with clear proofs of the guidance and the Criterion

(Sūratul Baqarah, No. 2, Āyat 185)

For the Jews, they are the "Chosen Community". They believe that God's blessings and revelations are solely for them. The non-jews (Goyim) are considered to be underserving. Hence, when Allah revealed that the Quran is a "guidance to all mankind", it ultimately nullifies the Jewish claim.

The Quran wasn't revealed to the just the Arabs or just the Jews. It is for everyone - regardless of your skin colour, culture, background and status. It is an epitome of Islam's mission to eradicate any form of nationalism, egotism, tribalism and racism. This fact itself should unite the Muslim community.

The universality of Islam is also evident in our daily Salah. In the mosque, the congregation could pass as a Model United Nation. Perhaps, maybe even a better one - where not only the elites are represented and given the veto. In salah, there is never a rule that segregates people. As a matter of fact, it allows everyone to stand side by side, for one true purpose: worshipping Him.

From these two facts, we learn that Muslims should never possess the idea that they are above the other. An arab shouldn't make fun of a non-arab. An asian shouldn't insult an european. This is because the main takeaway we should get from Salah and the Quran as a guidance for mankind is that racism should never be part of a Muslim's life and society.

Allah says in the Quran:

O Mankind! Lo! We have created you from both men and women, and We have created you all nations and tribes, that ye may know one another. Lo! The noblest of you, beside Allah, is the most pious. Lo! Allah is Knowing, Knower. Al-Hujurat (49): 13
